Graeme Wilson, saxophones & more!

I chat with saxophonist and composer Graeme Wilson about his latest album “The Seasons in the City” by the band Monsterosa, featuring songs and instrumentals inspired by the Marcovaldo stories of Italo Calvino.  I play music from this album, together with saxophone-led tracks by Vasilis Xenopoulos & Paul Edis, Luis Verde, Emma Johnson, Tommy Smith, and Bobby Wellins, plus music by Jo Harrop, Fraser Fifield, and Louis Stewart.

Meet Your Host

Colin Muirhead is the presenter of Jazz on the Tyne. Colin got into jazz whilst working in the US in the early 1990s and has been passionate about it ever since.  So much so that he went to the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland 13 times – and wrote a book about this!

Colin aims to play jazz of all types, performed by musicians from North East England and beyond.  Duke Ellington said that there are simply two types of music: “good music and the other kind” – well, on Jazz on the Tyne, you’ll hear only great music!  The show also includes interviews with musicians and previews of upcoming events.
